X-Men: Apocalypse

Overall Rating: 2/5

May 27, 2016
Dir. Bryan Singer
Rated PG-13 (for sequences of violence, action and destruction, brief strong language and some suggestive images)

Singer’s Apocalypse is full of action and ridiculousness (mostly the good kind). Enough to entertain most fans of the series and of superhero films in general, but this installment in the X-Men series, and specifically in the new generational trilogy, serves as a weak conclusion despite whatever entertainment value it may have. Most aspects of Apocalypse range from sub-par to terrible in comparison to its predecessors. If you haven’t enjoyed the most recent X-Men films then I wouldn’t recommend this one. And even if you have, this film doesn’t add very much to the value of the series as a whole.

I don’t seem to dislike this film as much as many others do, but it does feel unnecessary.
